Abstract

During the International Year of Indigenous Communication (2012), statements, manifestos, documents, seminars, congresses and many local, national and international events demonstrate the difficulties and challenges shared by the original indigenous people, especially concerning the communication and information rights. This paper presents the description of some of the main events that occurred during 2012, evoking the in formations and final documents available in the internet to identify the roles attributed to the communication among the indigenous people fights and their world conception. The concerns about the matter of communication emerge in the day-to-day conflicts against the militarization, in the context of new development models based on Buen vivir, on the rights of Pacha Mama or Madre Tierra and in three guiding principles: reciprocity, complementarily and balance.
