The text analyses the women political participation and quests if it's necessary that they themselves are in representative roles so that come some claim for female rights. The study object is the case of two female
candidatures for the City Hall at the Brazilian city of Fortaleza, wich are: Maria Luiza Fontenele (in 1985) and Luiziane Lins (in 2004). The hypothesis is that female political participation is needed for women to have their claims put in discussion. The empirical analysis was important to demonstrate how theory, reality and ways to think a situation must walk together.
